Hi, I’m Aarzoo

My Story

Born in Nepal, I moved to the U.S. in 2017, and eventually made Oregon my home, where I fell in love with the landscapes, the community, and the creative spirit surrounding me.

A historic multi-tiered pagoda-style building at Durbar Square with people walking around and shops nearby on a clear day.
A view of snow-capped Mount Hood in the distance, framed by green pine trees in a forest, with blue sky above.
A mountainous Nepali village with traditional houses and prayer flags, surrounded by green hills and snow-capped peaks.

Finding My Way

People are often surprised to learn that I majored in tech and psychology, fully expecting to build a career in the tech world. It seemed like the logical and stable path.

But I was always creating - doodling, sketching, making every school presentation extra than it needed to be, and creating designs for my “next new app”. I had taken design electives in high school, so I started picking up freelance gigs and working with agencies just for college money. Somewhere along the way, it hit me: I’m actually good at this!

Mobile phone screen animation displaying a travel app called Viaje, and a login page with a stylized airplane logo and options to create an account or sign in.

New Direction: Helping Small Businesses

After working as an agency and in-house designer for several years, like in any good “hero’s journey”, I started questioning my purpose.

I realized my true passion lies in helping small businesses not only survive but thrive, especially those owned by women and minorities. In today’s saturated, post-pandemic market, the challenge of surviving as a small business is real, and standing out can feel impossible. As a minority and an immigrant, I know the pressures of blending in just to get by, but I also know the power of embracing your unique identity.

Embracing Identity

As an immigrant, I spent years wrestling with my identity. Am I Nepali? Am I American? Could I be both? I answered yes. I could embrace my rich Nepali heritage while also leaning into the laid-back, quirky charm of Oregon. My brand is a reflection of this duality. Flavor and spice are central to my branding as a nod to the vibrant spices of Nepal because food keeps me rooted in my culture. At the same time, I draw inspiration from the natural beauty and spirit of the Pacific Northwest—the sense of exploration, community, and the thriving local arts and crafts scene.
